RiverBrooke Farm is a dream come true for two city slickers who high tailed it out of the rat race to fulfill a lifelong dream of self-sustainable farm living.
Faced with plenty of farming space, they began to cultivate the soil and decide where their dreams would take them. Kimberly was the one to decide on growing culinary lavender. As she would tell Gary early in their project, "Every woman loves lavender."
First, we experimented with several kinds of lavender. We decided on growing Provence and Grosso Lavender, both of which are fragrant and culinary. Recently we added the showy Purple Elegance for selling bouquets at the market. These lavenders thrive in the sunny, mediterranean microclimate of RiverBrooke Farm.
Surrounded by the vineyard and the fruit orchard, the lavender is in good company.
